Please tell me I’m not the only one that buys things and has them sit around for a year before I finally get to them, I know I can’t be the only one who does this. I bought this watermelon from The Wood Connection last year, and I finally finished it yesterday. It seems like lately when I sit down to create it takes me longer than it used to. It’s that or I just don’t have the time to create like I want to anymore. :) I’m just glad to get the time to create when I do!
I was excited to get started on this watermelon. I started by painting the rind edges green, and then painting the inside red along with the beadboard. I used this fun striped paper for the rind on the front.
I used some black polka dot paper to put on my seeds. Then I glued the beadboard, seeds and rind all together.
I knew I wanted to tie some ribbon around this somewhere, and when I went to get ribbon out, this giant ric rac was calling my name! I also added the smaller black ric rac as well. I love the fun look the ric rac gives the watermelon to finish it off.
I love how this turned out and I’m excited to have it up in my house! My little boys are loving it too.
Have you started decorating for summer yet, or are you still enjoying spring? I’m still enjoying spring, and I haven’t taken my spring stuff down yet, but I’m sure glad to have started on the summer decor already.
