eek! Halloween Plate Decor

It seems like Halloween should be a long ways off still, but it's coming, and if you are going to make decor, now is a good time to start.  Last week I received a fun box in the mail full of Halloween crafting supplies.  The challenge for me was to create some cute Halloween decor with the items I received.

This is what I came up with.  Let me show you how it's made.

I started with the blank plate and used 2" wide painters tape and taped off stripes on the plate, painted and then peeled the tape off.
After the plate was painted, I used a little piece of sandpaper and distressed the plate.  The plate was distressed when I got it, but after I painted, it had to be redone.
Next, using some black vinyl and my Cricut, I cut out my letters and applied them with transfer tape.
For the dot of the exclamation point, I decided to make and accordion flower (using this tutorial) and put a spider on it.  I love what it adds to the word "eek!"
Here are some close ups of the distressing! I LOVE it! :)

This was such and easy project to finish!  It only took me about an hour.
After working on this project, I'm getting so excited to decorate for Halloween!  I did get my fall decorations out yesterday, but I'm waiting another month to get the Spooky decor out. :)  I did put my plate up on my shelf with my pumpkins though, just to see how they look.
