Bless This Home Decor

I'm excited to have a few Thanksgiving things to share with you this week.  I'm hoping to share a couple more before Thanksgiving next week as well.  We'll see if I can get them done.  I'm fighting a nasty head cold right now, and all I want to do is sleep. :)
Anyway,  today I want to share this fun BLESS this home & all who enter wood decor item.  I'm sure you can guess that I picked this up from The Wood Connection.  I just can't help myself.  Every time I go in there they have new fun stuff!  I'm always excited to do more Thanksgiving crafts because I don't have many of them, but I'm getting more for sure!

I'll show you how I did it.  I started by painting the sides and back of the letters a cream color.  I was going to do brown, but I decided I wanted the fresh look of the light color.  Then I traced the letter on to the paper I wanted to use and cut it out.
I got my supplies out for gluing the paper.  My wood glue, sponge brush, and the blue rectangle/squeegee thing to smooth my paper with.

I put a good amount of glue on, then used the sponge brush to smooth it all out and made sure that the whole letter had glue on it.
I put the paper on and smoothed it out really well, then let it dry while I worked on the rest of the letters.
Once I had the paper glued on I used the dry brushing technique for distressing to put some brown paint on the edges.  I love how the brown pops on the cream!  Once that was dry I started embellishing my letters.  On the 'L' I added these fun leaves and an acorn that I took from this project I did last year.  I thought it needed a little more after I got the paper shapes on there, so I added the rafia.
For the 'B' I tied some ribbon and a little bit of rafia on it.  This rafia is a little bit different, it's like plastic, and I really like it.
I used more of the rafia on the 'S' along with the orange ribbon.
For my vinyl I used my Cricut and Cricut Craft Room and my Doodletype cartridge.
I'm so excited to have this out in my living room!  I'm still thinking about adding some more of the dry brushing/distressing to the bottom block, but for now I'm just leaving it.

What are some of you favorite Thanksgiving decorations?  Do you keep Thanksgiving decor low key because it's between two bigger holidays?  I'm so glad to be getting more and more Thanksgiving decor!
