About Me

Hi I'm Amy! I love creating home decor, paper crafting, and sewing. I've been crafting for over 15 years. I've always had a thing for pretty paper and fabric, and I can't forget polka dots.  I love polka dots. The Happy Scraps was started in 2008. I started it as a way for me to share scrapbooking and paper craft projects.  It has since evolved into more craft projects and less scrapbooking. Whether it is scraps of wood, paper, fabric, etc, they make me happy. Creating is my outlet. I still love scrapbooking, although I just don't have the time for it like I used to.
My husband (Tom) and I are the parents of four boys ranging in age from 10 to 4. Being a mom is the best job in the world.

I'm lucky enough that I get to stay at home with my boys. I enjoy spending time playing, creating, and laughing with them, but I'd be lying if I told you I didn't enjoy the time that they are gone to school.  I enjoy getting a few minutes of quiet time during the day.  {Aren't they a handsome bunch?!}

A few random facts about me...
  • I have an Associate of Applied Science Degree to be an Administrative Assistant.  I worked as an Admin Assistant until after I had my second baby.  I loved working in an office and I still miss it sometimes.  I also wonder now how I ever managed to work an 8 to 5 job when most days I can't make it through the shower before noon. :)  I wouldn't trade being home with my boys for a job though.
  • While in high school, I worked for my dad who was and excavator.  I know how to operate a backhoe, skid-steer, loader, and trackhoe.  It has been years since I've done any of that, but I enjoyed it while I did it. It also makes me CRAZY when these machines are referred to as tractors...A tractor is a piece of farm equipment. :)
  • I'm a certified scuba diver.  Between having kids (you can't dive when you are pregnant) and not having a place to do it, it's been quite a few years since I've been diving. My husband and I hope to go on a vacation to a warm, sunny, beach somewhere, someday where we can dive.
  • Never broken a bone.
  • I can name almost any car on the road.  I'm not quite as good at it as I used to be, but it is still something I enjoy.  I used to know what pretty much everyone drove in the small central Utah town that I grew up in. Kinda crazy, I know.
