Do you ever find yourself needing a really quick birthday gift? Last week was my sons kindergarten teachers birthday. I remembered late the night before that I wanted to put something together for her. She is seriously the BEST kindergarten teacher out there!! (Okay, I’m sure there are a lot of great Kindergarten teachers out there, but this is the one we love at our school.) A month or two ago I had to take my son in for the Kindergarten testing they do periodically, and the teacher left out some kids projects and a few other things for parents to look at during the testing. One of the papers happened to have the teachers birthday and her favorite treat on it, so I made note of it. 🙂
I learned that her favorite treat is popcorn, so I decided to make this cute Matchbox from the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge and my Cricut Expression. I just measured how big the bags of microwave popcorn were and using Cricut Craft Room, sized my box accordingly.
I designed the fun sentiment for the top of the box, using the Don Juan, All Mixed Up, and Celebrations cartridges. I used pop up dimension squares to lift the word birthday up a little bit.
On the end of the box where there are little holes, I looped some bakers twine through them and then added a chipboard tag that I added some washi tape to. I had my son sign his name and we were done.
This was such a quick project, the thing that took the longest was picking out the fonts and designing the files to cut. I’ve saved it tho, so I can cut it out again if I need to. 🙂 Do you give anything to your kids teachers for their birthdays?
