Have you decorated for Summer yet? For some reason I feel like I can’t until my kids are out of school. They won’t be out until June 7th though, so I’m getting out all the bright and colorful Summer decorations before school is out! I shared the Hello Sunshine Door Hanger over at The Wood Connection a couple of weeks ago. I seriously LOVE it, don’t you?
I started with my Sun, and I sanded all of my edges. Then I traced the front of the sun onto the back of my paper. I numbered each piece to make sure that they lined up once they were cut out. Once I had them cut out, I set them on to make sure they fit.
For the center of the sun, I painted it orange, and then I measured every 1/2 inch and taped it off with painters tape.
Then I started painting the stripes. I wanted the ombre look, so I started with white paint with just a little bit of orange added into it. For every stripe following, I added just a little more orange each time. Once it was painted and dried, I used some fine sandpaper and lightly distressed it.
Aren’t banners so much fun?! I added this fun “hello” banner, because everything is better with a banner. 🙂 I hand cut out the triangles and stuck them on to some baker’s twine. Then I cut out some letters with my Cricut machine and stuck them on the banner flags.
To finish it off, I added the little ribbon holder to the back and tied my ribbon on to hang it from.
Isn’t this the perfect addition to your front door for summer time? I just love how bright and happy it turned out! I know if I walked up to someone’s door that had this on it, it sure would make me smile. 🙂Disclosure: I was given this project in exchange for writing a post. I love The Wood Connection and love that I can share it with my readers. All opinions are my own. This post contains a Cricut affiliate link. I love my Cricut and I’m excited that I can share what I love with my readers.
