I’ve been wanting to get a little more personal on the blog, and I decided today was as good as any day to start. Don’t be surprised if you see posts like this pop up every so often.
The last few weeks, it’s been quieter around The Happy Scraps. It’s been a busy few weeks in the mom department, and after all, that is the most important department.
We’ve had one of my boys doing band camp, and all of them were in swimming lessons. I couldn’t believe how much time it took to get them to these things. We’ve also been trying to soak up the last couple of weeks of Summer. My kids go back to school tomorrow, the Summer has gone by SO fast! I can hardly believe that school is starting back up. This morning, I sent my oldest off to 6th grade orientation, at the Middle School. MIDDLE SCHOOL! As I watched him walk away to the bus stop, (and I didn’t even take a picture) I wanted to start crying. I didn’t, but I wanted to. A piece of my heart was walking away, and I just can’t believe that my oldest is really old enough for middle school. I’m not ready for it, but I don’t have much of a choice. He seems to be excited. He is very excited to be part of the band. He’ll be playing the french horn.
My other boys are looking forward to going back to school as well. One of them actually gets to have the same teacher he had last year. She moved from 1st to 2nd grade. She is one of my favorites as a teacher, and I couldn’t be more excited that my son gets to have her as a teacher for a second year. The other boy is starting 4th grade. He has a teacher that no one in our family has had before, but I think she will be good. I am also doing the PTA Birthday Bulletin Board along with the student and teacher birthday gifts again this year. I’m excited to come up with some new bulletin boards.
My youngest gets to be home with mom for another year. He has an October birthday, so he isn’t quite old enough to go to Kindergarten yet. I’ve got him signed up for an online preschool, and he is pretty excited about it. I hope the excitement lasts, he gets to do it for at least 15 minutes a day for 5 days a week, until the end of June 2015. If I can find a preschool for him to go to, then I will do that in addition to the online preschool, but so far I haven’t had much luck.
We’ve had fun growing our garden this year. We’ve been having lots of fun picking all the things that are growing in it. Last night for dinner we had Fajitas, and the peppers were all out of the garden. It is so fun to be able to go pick food out of the garden to eat!
I’ve been creating here and there too, but not as much as I create when school is going. I am looking forward to school starting again this year, for the simple reason of getting back on a better schedule, but man, I’m sure going to miss my boys. I guess it’s a good thing that my youngest won’t be in school yet, so I won’t be all by myself. I am hoping to get back to a better schedule with posting here on The Happy Scraps, once we get settled into our new school routine. I’m also looking forward to creating more! I love to create!
I hope you don’t mind my ramblings today. If you are interested in printing these printables (watermark free, for personal use only) you can find the files here and here. I hope you have a happy day.
