Wow, it’s been a busy week of posts here on The Happy Scraps! I normally try to post at least 3 times a week, and I don’t usually post on weekends, so this is a treat! 🙂
Yesterday, I decided that I wanted to make my kids some shirts to wear on the 4th. I headed out to pick up some white t-shirts, and I wasn’t really sure what I was going to do with them. I got home and realized that I probably needed some interfacing or something to make the fabric a little more stiff. Well, I decided to see what tutorials I could find online, and found this one. {These shirts took me longer than 10 minutes to make, but they were still pretty quick.} I quickly read the tutorial, and then just went for it!
I went thru my stash of fabric and let my boys pick which ones they wanted. I told them they needed a red and a blue. Then I let them decided which fabric was used for what.
I did a zig zag stitch around the whole large rectangle, then a straight stitch around the smaller rectangle.
I used the straight stitch to make lines in the flag and also just to make it more attached to the shirt.
I was just going to leave them at that, but then decided to use the darning foot and make a star.
And I’m so glad I did. I love how the messy stars turned out!
I hope my boys enjoy wearing them! And I hope they don’t look too girly for my boys. Believe it or not, I do have quite a stash of girly fabric, and that is what we were picking from, lol.
I also made some Red, White, and Blue Rosetta flowers for me to wear on the 4th. What are you wearing for the celebrations?
