I FINALLY finished my very first free motion quilted quilt! And I’m SO excited about it! If you follow me on Facebook, then you might remember about a month and a half ago, that I was working on the binding. The binding took me FOREVER to finish! I’ve had lots of other projects in between too, though. Once I had some time, I sat down and went to town and the binding actually went pretty quickly.
I LOVE how this turned out! I never thought I’d love quilting, but I do.This is what the front looks like. I didn’t follow a pattern of any kind, I just cut the fabric and pieced it together.
Here is a close up of the quilting. I used a darning foot and did the Free Motion Quilting {FMQ} on my little Bernina machine. I LOVE that I know how to do this now!
I also pieced the back. I realize this is pretty wrinkled, that’s what happens when it sits folded up for a long while, waiting to have the binding done.
Here is a close up of the binding. For not really having a clue how to bind a quilt, I’m pleased with how it turned out. I followed this tutorial for the binding.
Now that I’ve finished this quilt, it makes me want to try something a little more challenging, but maybe I’ll wait until after the holidays…then maybe I’ll have a little more time. Who am I kidding, I’m a mom of four. 🙂

Gorgeous!!! I absolutely love the colors, well done!
Love the colors and love that you made it by just cutting pieces!:) Mary

As someone who has exactly one quilt under her belt (I never made another because it was so hard)I have to say it’s gorgeous! You should be proud. I am a new follower from What I Made Wednesday. Vicky from http://www.messforless.net
This is gorgeous!! I’m trying to finish my quilt for my baby (due next month)! Hopefully I finish. I’ve never quilted before so I’m a little intimidated. Thanks for posting this. I love the colors!!
Amazing! love it and aren’t you talented! That is the kind of quilt I should make, I could never be so precise to use a pattern.
Great quilt! FMQ isn’t the easiest thing to do, but I think it’s more fun and creative. I struggled with binding simply because it took me so horribly long to do. I finally stumbled upon doing an invisible stitch for binding and it only took me 5 HOURS for a queen sized quilt! I was amazed!!! I can’t wait to do my next quilt because I won’t dread sewing the binding.
