This is the guest post I did a couple of weeks ago for Amanda over at Every Creative Endeavor.
Today I want to share with you a Personalized Fall Monogram letter that you can put on your front door for fall, and then change it up for anytime of the year.
I started with a plain Monogram letter, a “C” for my last name. These are about 18 inches tall, but you could do it with any size of letter. I picked mine up at a local wood craft store.
I used some light tan colored paint and painted the whole thing. Then I put some vaseline on the letter, where I wanted the the lighter color to show once I did the distressing.
After I had the vaseline on, I painted the whole letter with a darker brown color. You can kind of see where the vaseline is and that the paint isn’t sticking well.
Once the paint was dry, I used a paper towel and started rubbing the paint off where the vaseline was. Some of it came off great, and other spots it didn’t come off as well. I put more vaseline in some spots than others.
Once I got the vaseline off, I then took some sand paper and distressed even more. I was finally getting to the look that I wanted! 🙂
I wanted to put a universal ribbon on it that could be used anytime, but also be dressed up for different times of the year. I found this fun burlap ribbon at a local supply store recently and knew it was the perfect thing for this! I figured out my length and then cut the piece and tied it, then I added the fun fall berries to it for this season.
I am so excited with how it turned out. It was a fairly quick project to finish and I can’t wait to hang it on my door for November! I hope you’ve enjoyed this easy and fun Personalized Fall Door Decor!
