Recently I was challenged to create something fun for my kids to put together, using the Cricut. I decided to see if I could make Angry Bird puppets.  My four boys love, LOVE, Angry Birds.  So I jumped onto Cricut Craft Room and started trying to design my shapes.

The great thing about Cricut Craft Room is that you can manipulate shapes that are already in there and use layers to make it more visual to get what you want.  Most of the shapes that I used to create these birds are on the George and Basic Shapes cartridge.  There are a few pieces that I really had to get creative to create, but I made it work!  As you can see, there are a few places that don’t look quite right.  On the black bird (bomb bird) there is a yellow piece in his eye.  That is because I used a sword for the top of the beak.  I couldn’t hide all of the contour, so I just left it, and when I cut that layer, I just tossed the other little piece since I didn’t need it.  Then on the red bird, I used some parentheses to make the tan piece at the bottom. If you cut it out, you just use the inside of the tan piece that is red in this picture. If you are interested in cutting these files, you can download them here.  Blue Bird, Yellow Bird, Red Bird, and Black Bird.

To keep track of everything once I started cutting, I just put them in bags.

My boys had fun gluing them all together.

Watching my littlest boy use this to glue his papers together made this crafting mamas heart happy! 🙂

Once we had the birds all put together we glued them onto a jumbo craft stick.

My boys have been playing with these all day, and have been loving them!

Who knew that such a simple little project could bring so much joy to these boys!  I love little things that make them happy!

So go use your Cricut and cut out some Angry Birds, and have some fun!
