Did you guys all have a Merry Christmas? I know we did. We enjoyed the day in our jammies, and just had fun spending time together as a family. Now that Christmas is behind us, I am looking forward to the New Year. Now that my kids are getting older, I love to do simple and fun things with them for New Year’s Eve. They love the activities that we do, the food, drinks, and tasty recipes we eat, and they also love being able to stay up late. Today, I’m sharing some tips on Celebrating New Year’s Eve Family Style, along with a simple drink recipe.
It seems that food and drink are staples when it comes to celebrating. When I was at Wal-mart shopping for food and snacks, I picked up some 7UP®. I found it by the other soda pop drinks.
For starters, you always need yummy drinks for the whole day/night on New Year’s Eve. We love having 7UP® on hand anytime, but during the holidays it is a must. I’m going to show you how to step it up a notch today. You won’t believe how easy this is. While you are at the store, grab some frozen strawberries. I grabbed the kind that have a little bit of sugar added, and they are already sliced. Let these thaw and then put some into your blender.
Once you blend them, pour into ice molds and place in the freezer.
Once frozen, place in your glasses.
Pour 7UP® over the strawberry ice cubes. This drink is SO yummy and takes your regular 7UP®, up just a notch. You could also try using Canada Dry Ginger Ale®. It would be tasty too!
Some other fun ideas for celebrating are playing board games. My boys love to play games, and when you are passing time, waiting for midnight, games are the perfect thing to do.
Another game that we like to play is Balloon Bounce. See how long you can keep a balloon in the air with your hands, by hitting it into the air. To make it more challenging for older kids, you could see who can keep it off the ground the longest by blowing it in the air.
It wouldn’t be New Year’s Eve with out playing video games at our house. My boys love video games (a little too much at times).
In between all the games, we love to sip on our Strawberry 7UP® and snack chips and dip, crackers and cheese ball, veggies and dip, and any other fun snacks.
While you are out shopping at Wal-mart this week, getting ready for New Year’s Eve, don’t forget to pick up your 7UP® and Canada Dry Ginger Ale®. It will be the hit of your celebration!
These are some of the ways that we enjoy celebrating New Year’s Eve. What are some of your favorite ways to celebrate? I’ve love to hear the ways you like to celebrate, just leave it in the comments.
