Banners are fun to make, and I usually make mine from scratch. This Celebrate Banner Kit from Stampin’ Up! came with everything all ready to go, and it was kind of fun to put it all together. I did add a couple of my own touches, but overall, it was quick and easy to assemble.
To make this banner with the circle garland and tassels, you’ll need the:
- Celebration Basics Kit
- Calypso Coral Celebration Add on Kit (or the Bermuda Bay Add on Kit)
- Calypso Coral Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill (or Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin’ Ink)
Included in the Add on Kit is tissue paper to use to make your tassels, along with the little spray bottle for spritzing your ink onto the tissue paper. I put a few drops of ink into the spray bottle, and then diluted it with water. I laid my tissue paper down on some newspaper, to try to keep the spray from getting all over.
I sprayed my tissue paper, and then put it on my table to dry.
Once it was dry, I cut it every 1/2 inch, creating streamers.
I started on one end, taking the backing off the sticky strip as I went, and started rolling the adhesive part on to itself to create the tassels. These were really fun to see them come together.
Next I got out the letters for my banner. I sprayed them with the ink as well, to add a little color to the banner.
While the letters were drying, I decided that I wanted to add some color the the banner flags. Using the coordinating paper that came in the add on kit, I cut pieces to fit the top of each banner piece. I cut them to 1 1/2 x 5 7/8. Then I lined them up behind the banner piece and punched holes in them.
Next I strung the banner together, using the large baker’s twine in the kit.
Using foam dimensional squares, I put them on the back of each letter.
I stuck the letters on where they needed to be. I really like what it added by spraying the letters with the ink.
I got my banner hung up, and then I put up the garland with it. and since the tassels were sticky on the tops, I just stuck them to the back of a circle on the garland. It worked really well!
I think my favorite part of the whole thing is the tassels mixed with the garland!
