These five bags are the reason that I haven’t been around much here on the blog the last couple of weeks. I’ve been working on them! About a year ago, I saw an example of one of these Bow Tucks Totes (pattern by Penny Sturges) in a sewing/fabric shop, and I knew I wanted to make one for my diaper bag. Well, I never ended up making a diaper bag, but I did make a purse, and it was so fun! I made a few more for Christmas gifts and a couple for some aunts, and friends as well, you can see those here. Well, I finally got around to finishing these. The fabric has been all cut out since May! 🙂
This is my new diaper bag! I had left over fabric from a quilt that I had made, so I used it and made this cute diaper bag.
I added ric rac to the front of the pocket, to add a little something extra. I {heart} this star fabric! One of my most favorite things about this fabric is that there is scrapbook paper to match. I’m not sure which came first, the fabric or the paper, but I’m glad to have some of both. (You may remember a few pages I did with the paper, you can see them here and here.)
And here it is all stocked and ready to go! I’m loving it so far! Also, since this is a boy diaper bag, I decided to just tie knots in the sides rather than bows, you can kind of see it in this picture.
This one is my new purse! Back in January, for my birthday, my husband took me to Hobby Lobby and I found this fabric, and knew I wanted to make another purse out of it! I finally got it done, and I’m loving it! It’s even fallish colors, so it will be a good one to use for fall! 🙂
I put the ric rac on the pocket for this one as well, and I love it it turned out! And I just about can’t get enough of these buttons, aren’t they adorable!
The next three bags are some my mother-in-law had me make. She picked out and bought all the fabric and I just put them together. It think they turned out well!
After making these five totes the last couple of weeks, I think I’m finished making them for a while, but don’t worry, I’ll still be sewing. I plan to have a Place Mat Tote tutorial coming soon!
