Last December I saw a cute calendar made out of a cookie sheet, and I wanted to make one really bad. I never got around to it. While I was at The Wood Connection one day, I picked up one of the 18 x 18 magnet boards, not sure what I was going to do with it. 🙂 I had been thinking of several different ideas. Well, I decided to make it into my magnetic calendar, rather than using a cookie sheet. So far, I’m loving how it turned out. What do you think?
Here is the 18 x 18 magnet board.
I just used my square punch to make the squares out of chipboard. It was so fast!
I used my Cricut to cut numbers out of vinyl, and then I stuck them on. I inked the edges of the squares with brown and then black. I’m not sure this would be necessary, but I wanted the squares to be neutral in color, because I’ll have a different header for each month.
I used my glue gun and glued the magnets to the back of all the numbers. And then I placed them all on the board. For birthdays, I’m going to use my circle punch and glue pictures of whoever is having a birthday to the circle, then replace the number for that day with the picture. We don’t have any birthday’s this month, though. I’m also going to do the same thing for holidays, but probably just use a cute piece of patterned paper. I’ll have to post a picture of my October calendar, we have a birthday and holiday that month. 🙂
For the days of the week I simply cut out the chipboard, inked the edges, and then just used a black pen to write the days of the week.
I’m so excited how it all turned out. I’m still working on the headers for each month, but I figure if I don’t get them all done at once, I have a month in between when I’ll need the next one. If you would like to view the October header, click here. 🙂 As for the September header, I just used patterned paper and chipboard. Then cut the letters and apple out with my Cricut. I added some cute ribbon to hold it up, and that’s it!

I love it!! Calendars are so handy and that one is versatile and cute at the same time!
That is so cute. I can’t wait to see the other months.

WOW! I am amazed at how cute this is… I bought the SAME magnetic board at wood connection and haven’t been sure what to do with it. I just might be making one of these!! Where did you get your chipboard for your calendar numbers? Thanks so much for this fabulous idea!!!

I love the clean lines of your calendar. It came out great and I think the inked edges of the numbers help them stand out a little bit more and was the perfect touch. I like this variation and how it’s not on a cookie sheet with raised edges. Plus the bigger shape allows for more planned empty space around the calendar giving it a crisp look. Would love you add this to A Crafty Soiree.
This is amazingly cute! And looking to my right I see the perfect spot on my wall for this calendar. Now to see if I can find a magnet board! 🙂
What a great project. I love how “clean” and fresh it is.
Thanks so much for sharing it at A Crafty Soiree!
