I actually think that Spring really might be here, here in Utah. I’m crossing my fingers. I’m hoping we don’t get anymore snow! But if we do, at least it will be Spring inside the house. I’ve had SO.MUCH.FUN making decor projects with this fun line of Springtime paper from Echo Park! All of my Spring/Easter decor is coordinating, and I love it!
When I decided I wanted to make a Spring Decor item, I didn’t really want to do the same 2×4 blocks that I’ve been doing. I wanted to change it up a little, so I decided to do more of a square block. I picked up a scrap piece of wood from Home Depot for $.51, and then I cut it to the sizes I wanted.
I painted all the edges white, then used Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the blocks.
Since I had coordinating solid papers, I decided to use them to cut the letters out of instead of vinyl. I love the variety it added, to not have all the letters the same color.
I used the same solid papers to cut the flowers as well.
I got into my stash of buttons and brads to add the centers to the flowers,
and used some dimension squares to lift some of the flowers up as well.
Before I adhered the paper to the blocks I inked the edges. Then after my paper was on, I distressed the edges of the wood a little and then used my ink pad on those as well. I saw this technique used here, (which by the way, is a very cute project!).
For the letters, I used my Cricut and the Lyrical Letters cartridge. I just got this cartridge, and I’m loving that is has like 7 different fonts on one cartridge! Score!
I love the way this turned out, and I’m loving having some Spring inside the house! I just hope I can keep curious little hands from pulling the flowers off! 🙂
I hope you all are having a fabulous Monday! It’s Spring Break around here, so I’m hoping to do some fun activities with the kids this week. What are your plans this week?
