Life has been crazy busy lately! Between school starting, obligations that I’ve agreed too, and helping out with my sister in laws wedding that is coming up, along with everything in between, I haven’t hardly had the time to be creative. Last night I went to one of the Bridal Showers for my sister in law. I wasn’t going to take a gift, but I decided a couple of hours before the shower that I would throw one together. I decided to make an established sign. Let me just say that, it felt so good to be creative!!
This little sign (16×7) came together so quickly! These are my favorite kinds of signs to make! Painted, distressed signs. I started by painting the face of my board a turquoise color. Then I cut out some vinyl to use for my stencil. (I would have taken pictures of all of this, but like I said, I started this just a couple of hours before the shower, so I was in a hurry to get it done. It only took me about an hour from start to finish.) Once I had the vinyl, I stuck it to the board. Then I painted over the vinyl with about 3 coats of the cream colored paint.
Once all the paint was dry, I peeled up the vinyl. Using some 150 grit sand paper, I sanded the edges and front of the board, letting some of the blue paint show through. I love the way the edges turned out.
I used some baker’s twine and tied it around the board to finish it off.
My sister in law LOVED this! She was so excited about it. I used the same font (Lavendaria) that we used on their wedding announcements, I thought it was fun that they matched.
This project was great to get my creative brain thinking again, and helping to relieve some stress that I’ve been having. 🙂 That kind of project is always nice!
What are some of your go to wedding gifts?
