I’m a scrapbooker. I’ve been a scrapbooker for more than 15 years. In more recent years, I haven’t been able to find the time to scrapbook like I would have liked to. Then I think about how far behind I am with scrapbooking, and wonder what the point is to try and catch up. I thought it was pretty much hopeless. With four boys and being married for 12 years, I didn’t think I’d ever get all caught up, until now! I’ve been thinking about trying Project Life for a while now. I’ve read about it, and looked into it, and honestly, I thought it was too good to be true. I’ve read stories about people scrapbooking an entire year in a weekend. Well, after yesterday, I am completely SOLD! This is AWESOME. I sat down, with the Vintage Travel Edition (sold exclusively at Michael’s) for about 2 hours yesterday and I scrapbooked our entire family vacation from earlier this summer. I love that this edition has deep blues, reds and browns, along with a variety of darker neutrals. It goes so well with our vacation photos. I got all the journaling done too! Fourteen pages done! When was the last time you scrapped 14 pages in one day?
Here are just a few reasons that I LOVE Project Life. It is SO simple! The cards all coordinate perfectly, and they are already cut out for you. No need for scissors or a paper trimmer. The cards and photos all fit perfectly into the Photo Pocket Pages, so there is no need for adhesive either. I did get my paper trimmer out, just so I could trim some of my 4×6 photos down to fit in the 3×4 pockets, but that was all I used it for. I love that the only needs necessary to put these books together are the binder, photo pocket pages, core kit, pen, and photos. No tools. Simple! All of the busy cutting work is done for you, so all that is left is having fun, documenting your memories!
I also love that it is easy enough that my boys can help. When I used to do traditional scrapbooking pages, there was no way I would have ever let my boys help if they asked. My sweet 7 year old asked if he could help, and without hesitation, I said Yes! He helped me slip the pictures in, and he loved it.
Like I said, I finished 14 pages yesterday. Here they all are. I’m so happy to have this vacation all scrapbooked, so we can enjoy looking back on it!
I added some Thickers to these cards, rather than just writing it all out. I enjoyed feeling like I was embellishing my page, it made it feel more like traditional scrapbooking (which I miss sometimes), yet it was still super fast to do.
I added a chipboard arrow to this card, to point to the photo.
After putting these pages together, it makes me wonder why I waited so long to start Project Life! I’ve known about it for years, and I think one of the reasons I held back is because I love traditional scrapbooking and I feel like it is dying, that being said, this is still like traditional scrapbooking, but just simpler! Project Life is perfect for the scrapbooker and non scrapbooker! It is that easy!
I’m sure you are wondering how you can get your hands on Project Life?! Michael’s just started carrying it, and they have one of the largest selections of anywhere, along with two exclusive core kits. The Vintage Travel Edition (seen here, this is the edition I used and includes deep blues, reds and browns, along with a variety of darker neutrals) and the Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic Edition which has light blues, pinks, greens, yellows and airy neutrals along with a distressed feel. It also includes fun icons like birds, trees, foxes, houses, keys and clipboards. With having four boys, I’m excited to be using the Vintage Travel Edition because the colors are more boyish. I really wish I had a reason to try the Dear Lizzy Edition. It looks so cute and fun! Hurry on over to Michael’s and pick up your kit, and you will have an album all put together in no time!
