I’m sure that most people are probably all done decorating for Christmas. I’m one that tends to decorate and make new stuff all the way up until the holiday. Christmas is no exception, although it is harder to find the time to make stuff this time of year. Today I’m sharing how I made this colorful Christmas Garland in under an hour. Once you have all of your stuff together, it really does come together quickly.
You’ll need:
–Baker’s Twine
–Paper Straws
–Cotton Balls
-A large needle
-Ric Rac in a couple different sizes
I started by taking 20 straws of 3 different colors, 60 total, and cutting them into thirds. They don’t have to be perfect, the imperfectness just adds to the cuteness. Thread your needle with twine and then just start pushing your straws onto the string. This many straws put together makes a garland that is nearly 4 feet long. Next, you’ll thread your needle again with twine, and thread some cotton balls onto it. SO easy! You’ll need to measure the length of the ric rac you need. Once you’ve done all of this, then you are ready to hang it up!
I just love the way the straws twist, and it makes such a fun decor item. Now that this is up, I dare say that it is one of my favorite decorated areas in my house, and it’s above the kitchen sink! Maybe it will make me want to do dishes. Ha! Probably not!
So tell me, am I the only one that is still putting up Christmas decorations? I’ve been working on some others as well. Who knows, they might not get done until next year. 😉
