I have a thing for Christmas Countdowns. They can just be countdowns, or advent calendars with an activity for each day, it doesn’t matter, I love them all. I’ve shared several before, like this muffin tin advent, this fun & festive Christmas countdown. When I counted up a few weeks ago, I think I counted eight. I didn’t get all of them out this year though. This year we are using five. I purchased a lego advent calendar that my boys are totally loving, I’m using the fun & festive countdown, a countdown with blocks that you turn each day, the unwrap a book every night countdown, and this new one. If you follow along with me over on Instagram, then you are lucky enough that you’ve seen a few sneak peeks of this project. I got all the bags put together before December 1st, but I didn’t get the cards printed out until around the 4th. So that is when we started this one. You could still start this one, and just do the last 12 days until Christmas if you wanted, or you can pin it and save it for next year.
Funny story. I found a piece of Echo Park Papers, Tis the Season line, that had all of the numbers printed on it for me. I knew when I saw it that I wanted to make a Christmas countdown with it. In my mind, I was picturing using these little treat bags, and I knew I had these fun gray ones in my stash. I got all my numbers cut out and I went to pull out my gray striped bags, and I only had 14 of them (I forgot that I had used them for a baby shower). These are some that I got from Pick Your Plum last year, but I didn’t think it would be hard to find some more that would be similar that I could use. I didn’t care what design was on them, as long as they were 4×6 and gray and white. Well, as it turned out, I couldn’t find them anywhere. I asked in a group on FB if anyone knew where I could find some more bags, spent most of my day driving around trying to find some, and then my friend Amy from Ameroonie Designs, saved the day! She was so kind and told me she had some of the exact bags I had and so I was able to get some from her and had enough to make this.
Once I had the bags, and the numbers cut out, I picked out some coordinating paper and used my Cricut, along with Cricut Craft Room and found some fun designs to cut out and use on the bags. You can download the file here. I cut it out of Red, White, and Green, so I had three of each. Then I just went to town embellishing the bags. I also used ribbon, brads, buttons, washi tape, and twine.
I designed these printable cards. These are designed to fit into the 4×6 bags. They are available for download below.
You can also see a close up of some of the bags. No two bags are the same, just the way I like it!
These are all separate files, they will print on an 8 1/2×11 sheet. These printables are for personal use only.
Once you have them printed, you are ready to put slip them into your bags.
I used twine and itty bitty clothes pins to hang up my bags.
I pretty much adore the way these turned out. They were so much fun to make
Do you have a Christmas Countdown? What kind do you use?
