Last fall, I bought myself a scroll saw. I was so excited to use it, and to cut my own wood. Once I had it, it just sat in the box for a couple of months, and then my husband got it out and cut some stuff for me. Then it got cold, and the saw sat in the house all winter. Well, now that it is warming up, we got the saw out again. I still haven’t used it, but I did talk my husband into cutting out these fun numbers for me. This was one of those projects that I had in my mind, and once I had all the pieces, I had no idea what direction it was going to go. But, I am in love with the direction that this project went. I put this fun House Number Sign together, and it makes me so happy that those numbers were cut right at home!!
Once the vinyl was all stuck onto the numbers, I picked out my paint. I wanted bright, fun colors, even if they don’t match the outside of the house, I thought they’d be fun. I painted 2-3 coats of the colored paint on each number. Once the paint was dry, I peel up the vinyl, revealing the polka dots.
I distressed each of the numbers just a little bit. I think MDF is my favorite kind of wood to distress. There is just something about the way it turns out that I love!
The distressing on all the numbers turned out perfectly. Once they were all distressed, I glued them to my board, which I had already painted gray.
I decided after it was all glued together that I wanted to distress the edges of the board, so I lightly sanded it. After everything was done, I sprayed it good with a sealer, since it is going to be outside. I really hope it holds up well.
I really love the way it turned out. Polka dots are one of my favorite things, and so are bright colors!
So now you are all ready to grab a few supplies and make your own House Number Sign!
I can’t wait to get it hung on the house by the front porch. We were going to hang it tonight, but once we started looking, we decided we wanted to put it under the porch lights on the brick, which led to wanting to replace the porch lights, so we headed out and bought some new lights, and hopefully we’ll get them installed soon, and get the sign put up! I can’t wait!

Amy I just love these! Adorable! I have a scroll saw but broke the thing that holds the blade so I haven’t used it in years – this makes me want to get it fixed!
This looks awesome! Makes me want to go out and buy a saw and some paint right now! Thanks for sharing.
love it….pinned Christine from Little Brags
I love how this turned out. The bright colors and polka dots are so fresh and fun. I just bought a scroll saw 2 weeks ago but haven’t used it yet, now I want to cut something out! Pinning!
This is so cute! I feel bad for people who come to our home for the first time since our house numbers are so small. I’m pinning this post since it’s inspiring me for my next project!
These number are really adorable. Thanks for showing how you did the polka dots!
This is so stinkin’ cute! I absolutely love the tip on tracing the number on to the transfer tape. Genius!

Hello Amy. I found you over at 733 blog. I love, love your house numbers. I moved last fall to a house without a number. All winter friends or delivery men had difficulty finding the house. I was not sure what I kind of number I wanted to put up. Well now I know exactly what I want. Thank you for the inspiration.
Hi Amy!!! I am in love with your house numbers! They are so cute and so fun!
