I’m over at Today’s Creative Blog sharing a fun project today. I’d love for you to head on over there and check it out!
One day a while back, I was on Pinterest, not looking for anything specific, and I came across the pin for this project. I fell in LOVE! I knew that I wanted to make one. Well, I got it made and today I am sharing this fun Hot Air Balloon Summer Wreath with you!
- 10″ Foam Wreath Form
- 22-25 strips of coordinating paper, 1 1/2″ x 12″
- scissors
- adhesive (I used my Xyron, and it worked like a charm)
If you are using a Xyron, run all of your paper strips through it, so they all have adhesive.
One by one start putting them on. I started out doing every other one, and having one on top of two, but after I got going, I would just put them next to each other. It was easier to do it this way, and make sure the spacing was just right. Also, I learned that if you don’t stick it to the wreath right away, just loop it through, you can get the ends lined up and then the whole piece of paper ends up being straight. This was nice for this OCD (when crafting) girl. 😉
Once all of your paper strips are on, you can start cutting the peaks out of each end. I just eye balled it. (Sometimes this girl isn’t OCD when crafting. Ha!)
Once you have them all cut, you are ready to add your banner.
I decided to use hot air balloons for the banner because one of the papers I used has some on it. I pulled up Cricut Design Space and searched for a hot air balloon. I found one that was 3D and decided to use that one. Using my Cricut Explore machine, I cut them out in several different colors.
Once they were cut, I slid them together.
Using some glue dots and twine, I made a little banner. Yes, I flattened the hot air balloons, but they aren’t completely flat.
When I had the little banner all put together, I tied it onto both sides of the wreath.
I liked the wreath before I added the balloon banner, but I like it so much better now!
I love the way the outer edge of the wreath turned out! It reminds me of a banner, and you know me, I LOVE me some banners!
And that my friends, is my Hot Air Balloon Summer Wreath.
Now go grab the stuff and make yourself one! You won’t regret it! And if you do make one, head on over here and link it up at the new Creative Exchange Link Party!

This is darling! I want to make one now! And if only I had that nifty tool to make the adhesive. So many tools, so little time. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! You could easily use a glue stick for the ends of the paper strips, and hot glue for the part around the wreath. So many tools for sure! Happy crafting!
This so is incredible, different also. I like to make same type of thing but little different ideas now and then. This seems to be quite easy to put together. I don’t have a cricut for the balloons but will think of some summery shape to make for banner. Making banners is one of my favorite things along with any paper crafts. I’m pinning this also so I can make very soon. Will have to look thru my papers to see what would look good together. Happy weekend
Thank you! You’ll have so much fun making one, and it goes really fast!
