Every year, when it’s time to go Back to School, I always end up trying to figure out what to do for a Back to School Teacher Gift. I’ve done several things over the years, but I always like to come up with new things. Part of that is because I enjoy coming up with new things, and the other part is that some of my kids have had the same teachers as their siblings, so it wouldn’t work to well to give the same gift to them that I gave a couple of years ago. When it comes to Teacher Gifts, I try really hard to find things that are useful, and I also try to give thingsĀ that the teachers generally have to purchase with money out of their own pocket. (If you are wondering what things might be good to give teachers, that they generally purchase on their own, you can see some answers on this Facebook post.) This year, I was going over the list on Facebook, and I also had a box full of fun products that Stampin’ Up! sent me, and I was trying to incorporate them together. I decided on using a box of tissues. I also put together some bookmarks for my kids to use.
I was so excited when I received my box of goodies from Stampin’ Up! I mean, look at the fun items I received!
- Num-Num Clear Mount Stamps
- Whisper White Cardstock
- Clear Block
- Alphabet Press Embossing Folder
- Adhesive
- Ink Pads
- Striped Ribbon
- Owl Punch
- Brights Cardstock
- Patterned Paper
I wanted to play with the fun Owl Punch right away. I punched the Owl out of a few different colors of paper, and then I glued them all together. Once I had the Owl built, I used the adhesive and I glued it to a paper clip. I also glued another owl body to the back to help it stay on the paper clip better and look more finished. The Brights Cardstock was so fun to use for these owls. I think the colors are perfect! I also loved using the gray back to one of the patterned papers.
I love the way the owl sticks up so cute when it is in a book. Isn’t it fun?!
To embellish the tissue box, I took a piece of the Melon Mambo cardstock and embossed it using the Alphabet Press Embossing folder. Once it was embossed, I used a makeup wedge and got some ink on it, then inked the edges of the paper. I punched some holes in each side of the embossed paper, and ran the Bermuda Bay ribbon through it. Then I cut out a rectangle of the patterned paper, and inked the edges of it also. Using the Num-Num Stamp set, I stamped “Just a little something for you” on Whisper White cardstock. Once I had all the paper ready, I used some dimension squares and stuck it down. I used some yellow twine to tie the little tag on.
And that is how I put together this fun and simple Back to School Teacher Gift. When I adhered the large Melon Mambo embossed sheet to the box, I made sure that the glue was only on the part of the box where it would be torn off when the box was opened. I didn’t want to have an ugly ripped or torn box when the teacher decided to use the tissues. š
