OREO Cookie Balls are one of my all time favorite treats! I’ve been making them for years! I’ve always thought it would be fun to try and make different shaped balls, and with the big game coming up, I decided I’d give it a try! Today, I’m sharing these fun Football OREO Cookie Balls with you.

While I was out doing my grocery shopping at Wal-mart I picked up some OREO cookies. I always like to have some of these on hand.

Here is the OFFICIAL OREO COOKIE BALL RECIPE:

  • Ingredients:
    • 1 pkg (8 oz.) brick cream cheese, softened
    • 1 14.3oz OREO Cookies Package, finely crushed (I like to use my Ninja Blender)
    • 4 pkg. (4 oz. each) semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted (I like to use Almond Bark)
  • Make it!
    • MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
    • SHAPE into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan.
    • CUSTOMIZE it with your own ingredient additions or decorative skills.
    • REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.
  • Share and enjoy!

I gathered all of the ingredients that I needed and got to work.

When it was time to shape the balls, I shaped them into a football like shape, but with flat sides. Then they were ready to dip in the melted chocolate. I dipped them and then I used melted white chocolate in a zip closure bag, with the corner cut off, to draw the football threads on them (this is completely optional).

Making these into football shapes turned out better than I could have imagined! I love the way they turned out, and they are as yummy as ever!

To dress them up just a bit more, I decided to make some fun football tags to go along with the Football OREO Cookie Balls. Package these up for a little after game treat to send home with your friends! To make these tags, you’ll need to cut out your supplies. I used my Cricut Explore to cut these.

Glue the ball together.

Then glue it to the tag.

Place your Football OREO Cookie Balls in a box, and tie it up with some baker’s twine and add your tag. It’s the perfect little packaging for these!

You’ll have the best treats at the big game party if you make up some of these Football OREO Cookie Balls!

I absolutely love how you packaged them up, and your OREO Cookie Balls look perfect! Mine always end up lumpy, but hey – they still taste good! #client

If you use a food processor to crumble cookies in and then toss in cream cheese and spin till it clumps…they really come out smooth…

I’ve made the Oreo cookie balls, but dipped and decorated in team colors, then served on a football-field decorated tray. Always a huge hit! Nice packaging!

These look so cute! Can you use semi chocolate chips instead? If so how much, and do you put a little pit of shortening in with them?

I’m sure you could use semi sweet chocolate, but I’ve never tried it, so I’m not sure how to do it. Look for melting/dipping instructions on the bag and see if there is any. Good Luck!

What a fun idea! Perfect for a Superbowl party but I would definitely have to hide the Oreo cookies because they only last about 10 minutes in our house if that once the teenager finds them.
