When we moved into our new home, I was so excited to have a laundry room! Like a real, finished walls, not just a closet, laundry room! While I’ve been thinking of fun ways to brighten up the laundry room, let’s be honest, it’s not one of the rooms on the top of the priority list. I have however, found these Spring Cleaning Tips to help me stay on top of the laundry and help with keeping the room clean.
Here are the tips I use for keeping my laundry room looking great, with little effort.
- Sort laundry as it becomes dirty. This may seem like an easy one, or a no brainer, but it’s been so helpful for me. I used to just put everything into one hamper when it was dirty, then had to sort it before anything could be washed. Now I sort the whites out into a separate basket when putting the dirty clothes into the hamper. When that basket is full, I know it’s time to wash that load of laundry. It usually takes about a week to fill that hamper, so it works out well with my laundry schedule.
- Keep baskets of laundry out of the laundry room, until you’re ready to wash it. While I do have a laundry room and not just a closet, I still don’t have a lot of space in the room, plus it is what connects my kitchen to the garage. I keep the laundry out of the laundry room until I’m ready to wash it. Once I’m ready to wash it, I bring it into the laundry room, and throw it into the wash with my favorite laundry soap, all® free clear detergent. Read below to find out why I love this detergent, and why I’ve been using it for years.
- Stick to a laundry schedule. Whether it’s washing a load or two of laundry everyday, or washing all of your laundry one day every week, find what works for you. I prefer to do a couple of loads a day, so I am able to keep on top of all the laundry of a family of seven. I’ve got my laundry schedule written down and hanging in the laundry room so if I don’t get the chance to get some washed, my husband can help out.
- Wipe down the top of the washer and dryer to keep the laundry room lint under control. You can use a used dryer sheet to wipe the lint up off of the top of the washer and dryer.
Can we just talk about all® free clear detergent for a minute? I have been using this detergent for years. After I got married and started having kids, I notice that my nose started getting a lot more sensitive to smells. Anything that had a fragrance would bother me. I started to look for a laundry detergent that wouldn’t bother my nose or my skin, and I found all® free clear detergent, which is completely free of dyes and perfumes. I so glad that I can wash our laundry with this detergent, knowing that my nose won’t be bothered, and that our clothes will come out clean. It’s even great to use with delicate clothing! I also love that I am able to use this for all of my new born baby laundry, and I don’t have to worry about if it will bother his skin because it’s clinically proven to be gentle on skin. This soap is actually the number one recommendation of dermatologists, allergists, and pediatricians. While all® free clear detergent doesn’t treat or prevent allergies, it does remove 99% of allergens.
I love that in a house full of active boys, I don’t have to worry about if our clothes are going to come out of the wash clean. Whether it’s a grass stain or mud, I throw it in the wash with all® free clear detergent (it doesn’t take much either, see package for recommended amount), and our clothes always come out looking great. It’s nice that I don’t have to stop my kids from having fun, just because I’m worried about their clothes and if I can get them clean or not.
One of the best things about this detergent, is that I can pick it up where I already shop. Sam’s Club always has it on hand, and I can grab it while I’m at the store doing my other shopping.
Now that I have a laundry room that is simple to keep clean with these easy tips, I don’t mind doing the laundry.
If you haven’t ever tried all® free clear detergent and you are sensitive to fragrances or have sensitive skin, give it a try! I’ve been using this for seven plus years, and I’ll be using it for years to come as well!
