Do you love ranch dressing? It seems to be a staple around our house. We use it on tacos, for salad, for veggie dip, to dip our pizza into, and whatever else we decide to use it for. What foods do you put ranch on? When we first got married, my husband told me that his mom made ranch dressing from scratch, and it was really easy. I remember thinking “so does my mom, she mixes up one of those little packets with buttermilk, and we get ranch.” Well, his mom actually made it from scratch, and today, I’m sharing the recipe for this EASY HOMEMADE RANCH DRESSING with you.
Easy Homemade Ranch Dressing Ingredients:
- Buttermilk
- Mayonnaise (we like the Olive Oil Mayo)
- Black Pepper
- Garlic Salt

Place the following into a mixing bowl.
- 1 cup Mayonnaise
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 1 tsp Ground Pepper (we like to grind ours fresh with our pepper grinder)
- 1 tsp Garlic Salt
Mix it up, and it’s ready to use. We like it better chilled, but usually when we are making it, it’s right before we are eating, and it’s just fine when made and used fresh. I do think the taste gets better after it’s been in the fridge for a bit.
It works great to keep it in a jar in the fridge, or we have a dressing bottle that we like to use as well.
We’ve been using this recipe for 15 years now (we just had our 15th wedding anniversary this week!) and it’s never let us down. My kids LOVE it as well! We’ve even gotten to the point that we don’t really measure. It’s one of those recipes that you really can’t mess up. And if you do happen to mess it up, then you can usually fix it by adding more of something else. You’ve got to give this Easy Homemade Ranch Dressing recipe a try, and let me know what you think!
