My good friend just had another baby. She too had to be on bed rest. She was a lifesaver to me when I was down so I wanted to come up with something fun and useful to give to her. She has older kids at home so I thought it would be fun to come up with something they could enjoy too. First I bought a jar from Walmart and cut some vinyl.
Then I filled it with treats. Anytime she needs them to pitch in or if they do something extra helpful, they can get a treat from the jar. I did something similar for my kids, and they (especially my 5 year old) LOVE it. I added a big pink ribbon to it, but forgot to take a picture of it.
Next I put together a changing basket full of diapers, wipes and burp cloths. I found I was constantly running from room to room gathering supplies so I put three of these together shortly after bringing my baby home. It was the best thing ever. I hope she finds its as useful as I do.
I wanted to be sure and do something for the daddy too. The weight of the world gets put on the Dads shoulder when the Moms are down and out. Jim just like my hubby was amazing and took care of EVERYTHING while his wife was on bed rest. I wanted to give him a little something too. I have the hardest time coming up with gifts for men. I made it as manly as I could. ha ha. I bought some beef jerky and a gift certificate to 5 guys. I wrote a little note about how grateful I am that she married such a good guy who never complained or acted like a “jerk” while doing the work of “5 Guys” at home AND within our church, with out ever complaining. I put the note in a library card folder and tied the gift card on with bakers twine.
