My friends Dad passed away suddenly a year ago today. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it has got to be to lose a parent. My heart aches for her and her family. I wanted to find a way to let her know just how much I care and that I am thinking about her, on this one year Anniversary of his passing. This is what I came up with.
I remember her dad LOVED Reece’s peanut butter cups, so I wanted to use them somehow. I
I went to Hobby Lobby to find a cute container, then Walmart for the candy. (funny side note…as I was buying the candy, I ran into her. There it was, a bag of candy just sitting in my shopping cart. I panicked for a second. I felt like she had totally just busted me, and knew what I was up too) haha 🙂
We had a fun little chat and off I went, home to embellish it up.
I decided to hang a little banner from the handle
here is the other side
The lid of the can dips down. I was originally just going to cut a paper circle to cover it. Then I thought it would be cute to use Amy’s acordian flower technique to go on the top of the lid.
after that was done I filled it up with crinkley paper and candy.
I made a matching card to go along with the gift.

This is adorable!! I love the way that you did the accordion flower/lolly on the top of the can, and the square and button just make it so cute! I also love the little banner. I’m sure she loved it! 🙂
Anniversaries are important to remember–looks like you did the right thing. I know it will mean a lot to your friend. My Dad’s been gone 7 years–I think about him every day. He died on my hubbys birthday. Makes it kind of hard to show mom love and hubby love. But my mm and hubby love each other so it works out just fine.
