I have had this fun Snowman sitting unfinished for a couple of years. This year, I was determined to get it done. I just finished it this morning and I knew if I didn’t get it posted soon, it would be too late to share. Do you decorate for Winter? I have a few things that I like to put up, it helps so that my house doesn’t look so bare after Christmas. While I was finishing this snowman, all I could think of is the song from Frozen, “Do you want to build a snowman?” Have you seen the movie? It is so good! I loved it and so did my boys.
Anyway, here is the snowman. I found him at The Wood Connection.
I started by painting all of the edges a dark grey. Once that I was dry, I painted the edges white. To cover the grey, this took a few coats. Once that was all dry, cut out my paper (I used Ski Lodge from the Echo Park Paper line of Winter Park) and glued it on. Since the edges of the snowman were already distressed/sanded (before I ever painted), I tried to cut my paper to be as close to the right size of the flat surface as I could. Doing this made it possible to use only one sheet of 12×12 paper.
I glued the paper on and then using sandpaper I sanded the edges and let a little bit of the grey show through. I love the way it makes the snowman look.
Isn’t this carrot nose so fun?! I decided to use some buttons to finish the face of the snowman, rather than using the wood discs that came with the snowman. Aren’t they so cute?!
The last thing I did was tie a ribbon around the neck of the Snowman for his scarf.
He would be really cute with some kind of hat on him too!
Isn’t this the cutest snowman you’ve ever seen?
