I’m on a kick lately of making new Valentine’s Day Decor. You know after a few years of having the same stuff, it’s fun to make some new decorations, and change things up. This year, I really wanted to change out the hot pink and black for some softer colors. Since I put my Heart Door Hang in my shop for sale, I decided I needed something new for my front door. When I was at The Wood Connection picking up my Stacking Love Letters, I grabbed these fun Stacking Hearts too. Once I had them home, I decided that I wanted to do something different with them than just stack them together on a shelf. This is what I came up with.
I traced the hearts onto the paper I wanted, then I painted the edges. Once that was done, I drilled holes in the hearts. When drilling holes like this, you have to consider the direction that they will hang.
After the holes were drilled, I sanded over them to make sure they were nice and smooth. Once that was done, I glued the paper on and sanded the edges of the paper to make sure they were a perfect fit to the wood.
I used some white mesh ribbon and tied it through each hole in the hearts. For the larger two hearts, I used a connected piece of ribbon, and for the smallest, I just tied its ribbon to the top of the other white ribbon.
I’m thinking about putting some magnets on the back of the hearts to help them stay in place. They move quite a bit when the door is opened and closed, but I do love the look of them on the door.
I really like this paper that I’ve been using for these Valentines Day projects this year. Last year I was trying to add some blue into the Valentine’s Day decor, but I didn’t get it done. I have to say, I’m glad I waited because this paper wouldn’t have been available last year. 🙂
And this my friends, is what is hanging on my front door for Valentine’s Day. What is on your front door?
I have one more post of some fun Valentine’s Day decorations. Here’s to hoping I can get it posted before Friday. 🙂
