This is a post that I previously shared on the Core’dinations blog.
With it being Summer time, I feel like I’m always looking for something to have my boys do, besides watch TV, play on the tablet, or video games. I try to limit those things as much as possible, but that also means I hear a lot of the “I’m Bored”. Especially now that the kids have been home for more than a month. Today, I’m going to share with you these fun Animal Paper Sack Puppets. This is something the kids could cut out the shapes and build them themselves, or you could help them cut everything out and they could put them together.
You’ll need a variety of Cardstock weight paper, paper sacks, and adhesive.
I used my Cricut Explore to cut out all the shapes. I had to get creative with some. The Elephants ears are rain drops, and the lions mane is a grass cupcake wrapper, that I doubled and welded together. I love that you can insert plain shapes into Cricut Design Space now, it makes it so easy to create your own shapes and images by welding things together.
Cut out all your shapes, and figure out if you have everything that is needed to put the animals together. I also cut tongues out for the mouths.
Using your adhesive, adhere the animals together and then adhere them to the flap on the paper sack.
Aren’t these so fun? My boys sure think so!
And I love the way the mouths look inside. 🙂 The sweet looking (on the outside) lion mouth is my favorite. The teeth are grass as well. 🙂
Your kids are sure to have hours of fun with these simple puppets that you helped them make!
What other fun activities have you done with your kids so far this summer? I’d love to hear!
