Laundry Room Ladder

I don’t know about you, but for me, when we were finally to the point of buying a home, I had quite the list of things that I wanted in our home. When it came to looking for a house, finding the perfect house, that had everything on my list, and in our price range was next to impossible. I fell in love with our house when we looked at it. I lost out on the chance for a fireplace (I’m still considering building a fake one, just for decoration) and also a large laundry room with space for folding clothes. Since remodeling and making more space just isn’t an option, I’ve had to figure out other ways to make things work. A while back I had seen this idea and decided that I needed a Laundry Room Ladder.

I decided to build the ladder myself, and while I was in such a hurry to get it built, I didn’t take any pictures of the process. I used a 2×2 board, cut in half, giving me 2 – 4 ft lengths for each side. Then I used a 1×2 and cut 4 lengths at 12″ each. Then I just used my nailer to nail it together. I had it all built in about 20 min. (If there is enough interest, I could build another one and do a tutorial.) Once I had it built, I painted it.

Once I had the ladder built, I used some eye hooks that I screwed into the top of the ladder.

I also used large eye hooks to anchor the chains into the ceiling. I picked up some chain from The Home Depot and used bolt cutters to cut it to the length I wanted. Then I used quick links to attach it all together.

You can see in this picture how it looks when it’s finished.

We had to hang it under the light because of where the floor joists were above it. We also had to take into consideration where the door from the garage swings as well as the cupboard doors. We found the perfect spot!

I keep some hangers on it most of the time, so when the dryer gets done, I can pull the clothes out and immediately hang them up. I don’t know about you, but for me, laundry is the worst. I can’t keep up with it. In the few weeks that I’ve had this Laundry Room Ladder, it has helped so much for getting laundry actually put away, and I’ve had a lot fewer laundry baskets full of clothes in my bedroom! YAY!

I also love that I can hang my delicates to dry on it and not have them hanging in my bathroom.

And when there is nothing hanging on it, it just looks cute hanging there.

I hope you like my Laundry Room Ladder as much as I do. It’s one of my favorite things we’ve added to our home so far! Also, I love that it matches my Laundry Room sign.
