Earlier this year, when I was able to go to the Cricut Mountain Make-a-thon, Cricut introduced the new Cricut Maker machine along with the fabric mat to go with it. I was so excited about this FabricGrip Mat! After I got my machine, the very first thing that I cut was felt. Well, that felt left a big mess on my mat that I wasn’t too excited about. One of the things we were told at the Mountain Make-a-thon was that you didn’t need to worry about fabric strings and fibers being left on the mat, it would still hold, and it did. But, the OCD in me and my wanting to have a clean mat got the better of me, so I thought I’d clean it and today, I’m sharing with you How to Clean Your FabricGrip Cricut Mat. You won’t believe how easy it is!

Once your FabricGrip Cricut Mat has lots of fibers and fabric strings on it, it may not hold the fabric as well as it originally did. Without really thinking about it, I would want to grab a wet wipe and scrub the mat off. That’s what I do with my other Cricut mats, but that is NOT what you want to do with the FabricGrip mat. You can also use this trick with all of the mats if you prefer.
Get yourself some of the Cricut StrongGrip Transfer Tape and cut a piece the size of your mat. Stick it down on your mat and use a scraper to smooth it out and get it on there really well.
Then pull the transfer tape off. This is a picture of the transfer tape after. It got so much stuff off!
Now my mat is much cleaner and ready to be used for a while longer!
I hope that this How to Clean Your FabricGrip Cricut Mat is helpful and that some of you will try this and not just throw your mats out before they are completely used up! 🙂 If you like this post, you might also like some of my other Cricut tutorials. You can find them here.
