Happy Tuesday! Did you have a good weekend? Saturday I spent some time doing some blog work, then I cleaned out the dresser in one of my boys bedrooms. It was long overdue! It wouldn’t shut because the drawers were too full, the top of it had clothes piled on it, and there were more clothes that were in a basket by the dresser. I’ve been wanting to clean out and go through the clothes in this bedroom for quite sometime, but honestly, it was almost paralyzing for me, just thinking about going through it all. I’m not sure why, but it was. I spent probably less than two hours going through all the clean clothes and I ended up with three garbage bags full of clothes to donate! Yay! I was so glad to get somethings gone out of there! Later that night my husband and I headed out to play a game of The Amazing Race. That was SO fun! Even if my team was pretty much dead last! π Anyway, now that we are through the weekend, my husband and I are getting ready to leave on our anniversary trip. We leave tomorrow and will return late Monday night. I’m excited about going, but also having some anxiety over it. I haven’t traveled much in my life, especially on a large airplane. I don’t mind traveling in a car, but for whatever reason, flying in large airplanes makes me anxious! I know everything will be fine and I’m excited to go on a trip with my husband! We’ve never been on a trip like this, just the two of us, so it should be fun! After we get back from our trip, it will be time to start hunting! I’m excited about going hunting this year. Between all of us at our house, we have several tags for different animals. We fill up our freezer with it, and it’s fun to get outdoors with our family while doing it! This year, I’ll be sporting this Hunting Hair Don’t Care Girls Hunting Hat! I’m kind of excited about it! Of course I had to add some glittery heat transfer vinyl to it to make it more “me”.

It’s kind of funny how the idea for this project even came about. I was headed out of town last month, and I wanted a hat to take with me. I ended up at Wal-mart and found that they have these girl hats for $3. I went for one hat and left with five, because naturally, I want to craft all the things, right? They actually have some super cute hats for $3. Anyway, one of them was this camo hat, and I knew I needed it for hunting. π
Create the Cut File
The first thing I did when creating this project, was to create the cut file. I created this one, right in Design Space, using fonts I have on my computer.
Once I had it designed, I was ready to send it to be cut. Because I was cutting heat transfer vinyl, I needed to make sure that I mirrored my image.
Once I had my design created, I collected my other supplies.
Hunting Hair Don’t Care Girls Hunting Hat Supplies:
- Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore Air 2
- Camouflage Hat
- Glitter HTV in Neon Orange
- Cricut EasyPress (Update: the NEW EasyPress Mini works WAY better for hats!)
- Cricut EasyPress Mat
I cut out the Hunting Hair Don’t Care design with the Cricut Maker and weeded it.
I trimmed the carrier sheet so I could get the glitter HTV to lay properly on the front of the hat. I pulled out my EasyPress and got it pre-heated. I think the EasyPress Mini would be easier to work with for this, but I don’t have one, so I used the smallest one I have. I also think that this mini iron would make it even easier.
I placed my hat over the corner of the table, with the EasyPress Mat underneath where the heat would be. Because of the rounded shape, I had to apply the HTV in two different sections. I did one half and then the other.
Once it was done, I peeled the carrier sheet off.
I can’t wait to take this Hunting Hair Don’t Care Girls Hunting Hat with me when we go out on our hunting excursions over the next month or two!
Because, let’s be honest. When I’m out hunting, the last thing I want to worry about is doing my hair! So this Hunting Hair Don’t Care Girls Hunting Hat is the perfect solution!
I’m excited to go out again this year and try and get a deer so we have a freezer full of meat. Are there any others out there that enjoy hunting as well?
I can’t wait to make more hats with HTV and share them with you. Until then, check out my gallery of other fun projects made using HTV. There are several fun ones!
