Last year, somewhere either on line or in a store, I saw this saying, “I Love You More Than Tacos” and I knew I needed to create something with it. We make tacos regularly at our house, almost once a week, and it is a favorite at our house, so I knew that my family would get a kick out of this sign. Do you know someone who loves tacos that would love this I Love You More Than Tacos Painted Sign?

I Love You More Than Tacos Painted Sign Supplies:
- Piece of Scrap Wood
- Vinyl for Stencil
- Transfer Tape
- Paint
- Paint Brush
- Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore Air 2
- Weeding Tools
- Cut File (for personal use only)
The first thing you’ll want to do is upload the design into Cricut Design Space. Place your vinyl onto your cutting mat and cut your design with your Cricut machine. Once cut, use the weeding tool to weed your design. Because this is being used as a stencil, you’ll want to weed out the letters, leaving all of the edges. I used white vinyl and the backing of it is blue, to give you an idea of how I weeded this.
The first thing I did was paint my board white, then let it dry.
I applied transfer tape to the front of the vinyl design, pulled the backing off, then applied the design to my wood.
Once the design was on there good, I peeled off the transfer tape.
I grabbed my paint and carefully painted the design. Sometimes when I have designs that are close to the edge, I’ll put a border of painter’s tape around it. This one probably could have used that, but I didn’t use any. 🙂
Once the paint was mostly dry, I peeled up the stencil. I used my weeding hook and penblade to help get the center of letters out. I seriously love my penblade! I’ve been using it for years, and love that it is so handy + safe!
Once I had the vinyl removed, I was finished with my sign. Isn’t it so fun?!
I currently have it sitting on the window shelf in my kitchen with my home sign. I think it’s the perfect spot for it!
Do you have the perfect place to put this sign in your home?
This would even be a fun design to just cut out of vinyl and put on a sign or something else, without stenciling it.
