It is no secret that I love my Cricut machines and have loved them for years! I so enjoy creating with them. When I heard that Cricut was releasing some hand tools, I’ll admit, I was skeptical. They are great at the machines they have, but would they really be that great when it comes to hand tools? The answer is YES! Today I’m sharing all about these fun new Cricut Crafting Hand Tools!

Cricut Crafting Hand Tools
- Cricut TrueControl Knife (Optional set with blade refill)
- Cricut Cutting Ruler
- Cricut Rotary Cutter
- Cricut Acrylic Ruler
- Cricut Self-Healing Cutting Mat
The first time I used the Cutting Ruler with the TrueControl Knife (a few months ago), I was HOOKED! Seriously! I was working on putting a birthday party together for my nine year old and creating some games. I used the TrueControl Knife + Cutting Ruler over the top of the Self-Healing Cutting Mat to cut some holes in a foam core board. It cut like butter!
Cutting Ruler
One of my very favorite things about the Cutting Ruler is that there is a cutting side. You line up whatever you’re going to cut and that piece that stands up a little taller, protects your hands. I LOVE that! I also love that this ruler is super heavy duty metal and I don’t have to worry about using the sharp blade next to it, because it won’t get damaged. If you are anything like me, I always find myself cutting things larger than 12″, so using this Cutting Ruler works great with the longer size of 18″. Having a non-slip backing is awesome too. I can place it where it need it, place slight pressure on it with my hand, and it isn’t going to move while I cut along the edge.
TrueControl Knife
Do you have those tools that you tend to reach for time after time? The TrueControl Knife is that tool for me. Over the last few months as I’ve been using it, I’ve found that I love to reach for this, whether it is for cutting foam core board, cutting wood to use with the Cricut Maker, or opening packages, I reach for this TrueControl Knife all the time! The cushioned handle makes it comfortable to use as well as keeping it from rolling away.
While I haven’t had to change the sharp edge, piercing tipped blade yet (blades last a while!), the hands free blade changing system makes it so easy to do so! When the blade is in and ready to be used, you have the top of the knife in the lock position.
To change the blade, you simply twist the top, so it shows the unlocked position.
Even if you don’t consider yourself to be a seamstress and don’t sew often, you still need a good rotary cutter and acrylic ruler.
Rotary Cutter
I’ve been using an inexpensive rotary cutter for years and while I haven’t really had issues with it, I didn’t know what I was missing out on! This 60mm Rotary Cutter has a comfortable handle and is quick and easy to use to cut out new projects.
I love that the buttons for the blade engaging and releasing are right where I need them. Also, this Rotary Cutter is great because it will work whether you’re right or left handed. The blade is made from premium steel that helps make it so you can cut through multiple layers of fabrics at the same time!
Acrylic Ruler
There really is something to be said about pretty tools! This mint Acrylic Ruler is just what every crafter needs in their creative spaces. The frosted acrylic makes it easy to see your numbers and to line up the ruler just where you need it. This 3″ x 18″ size is great for so many kinds of projects.
Self-Healing Cutting Mat
When I’m in the thick of creating, sometimes I forget just how important having a protected surface is! I’m always pulling this pretty double-sided Self-Healing Cutting Mat out without even realizing it! There are a couple of reasons why I adore this cutting mat. One, I love that it is a large size (18″ x 24″) and has the measurements on one side. I also love the extra measurements it shows for standard sizes like 12″ x 12″ and 12″ x 24″. The other reason that I love it is for the pretty design on the back of it! While this can’t be used in Cricut machines, it is a great tool to have close at hand for anytime you want to use the Rotary Cutter or the TrueControl Knife.
These Cricut Crafting Hand Tools are all a great addition to any creative space + some of them are great for none crafting as well! I know my husband had reached for the TrueControl Knife for things more than once! Stay tuned because I’ll be sharing a super fun project using these Cricut Crafting Hand Tools in the coming days!
